Mike graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in Business. He entered the life insurance industry in 1971 and has held various positions, including agent, field manager, and executive-level manager with a major insurance company. In 1988, he formed MG Schlegel & Associates, specializing in wealth preservation planning and family business succession.

Mike holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), and Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®) designations. He is a member of Crump Potomac Affluent Markets (CPAM), providing advanced technical and competitive underwriting and sales support.

Mike has served on many industry professional associations, including Past President of the Marin County Estate Planning Council and the Mt. Diablo Estate Planning Council. He is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table and “Top of the Table” and a member of NAIFA.
